90 Day Blog Plan to Achieve Your Goals

Setting goals and achieving them are two very different things when it comes to running your business.
How many times have you set goals, only to never even start working towards them?
The best way to get things done in your business is to get super focused on the goals and tasks at hand. Which is where 90-day sprint planning comes in.

With 90-day sprint planning, you will not only start working towards your goals but you’ll actually achieve them because you’ll know exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it in order to get things done! (be sure to pin the image below to reference later!)
What is 90-day Sprint Planning?
A sprint is where you focus on one high-impact project for two weeks.
And when I say focus, I mean really focus. Don’t think about anything else at all, just focus all of your energy and attention on one project for two weeks.
This might mean you have to change your mindset a bit. As business owners (especially if you’re creative!) we’re used to thinking about a million and one things and trying to do half of those things at any one time.
For the 90-sprint planning to work, you need to change your mindset and give complete focus to one thing.

Here’s how the process works:
Step 1: Brain-dump
Before you dive head-first into planning, take a few minutes to sit down with a pen and notebook (or the notes app on your phone) and empty all of your ideas out of your mind.
Think about everything you want to accomplish in the next 90 days. It doesn’t matter how big or small those goals are, just that they are things that are important to you and your business.
The idea of this step is to clear your mind of those ideas so that you can focus on one at a time without being overwhelmed or worried that you might forget about an idea. This is where a lot of people get stuck -they want to work on everything right now and get caught up feeling like everything is important and urgent.
But the truth is, we can’t possibly work on everything all at the same time. So get those ideas down onto paper.
Step 2: Prioritize
Now that you have all of your ideas down on paper it’s time to analyze and prioritize those ideas and goals.
For some people, this might be really easy and it could be really obvious to you which goals you are going to focus on first and which can wait.
But, if you’re having trouble prioritizing, consider the following criteria:
Is it easy for me at the stage of business I am in right now?
Do I have the time, energy and resources?
How long will it take?
Will it help me to earn money or free up time?
Does it feel urgent?
Am I doing it for myself?
Does it make me feel excited and proud?
Take each item on your list and run through the above questions then, based on your answers, rank the items in order from most important to least important.
When you are done, pick the top three for your 90-day period so that you can focus on one each month. However, if some of the ideas are smaller, you could do your top 6 goals.
Step 3: Set Goals and Deadlines
For each goal you have, set a deadline.
Your goals and deadlines can be fairly general, for example, increasing sales by 25% by the end of the quarter.
Or you can get more specific and keep yourself really accountable, for example, complete the draft of your new online course by May 1st.
Step 4: Break it Down
The next step is to break down your goals into projects. Take each goal one at a time and break it down into smaller projects.
These projects are the WHAT part of your goal - WHAT are you going to do to achieve the goal?
For each project you create, you then want to break things down even further into actionable steps. It is these steps that you’ll be working through during the sprint so make sure that they are clear and purposeful - each step should take you closer to your overall goal.
Step 5: Plan Your Sprints
Like I said at the start of the post, you should dedicate all of your focus and attention to the task at hand during your sprint so make sure that you put it in your calendar.
For those two weeks, you will focus on one high-impact project and NOTHING else to make sure it’s blocked out. Prepare ahead of time by making sure that you’ve got everything else covered. For example, write and schedule any blog posts or social media posts before the start of your sprint weeks so you have no distractions.
Then get to it!
Start working through those tasks and get those goals.
This process allows me to stay focused so I don’t feel overwhelmed and I know exactly what I need to be working on each day.
Plus, I know when I am going to achieve my goals because I have them on my calendar.
